Students gather at the dairy section of a grocery store to listen to a man talk about milk. Students listen to Mr. Taylor of Food City explain about the dairy section.

Abingdon Elementary Preschool loves to take field trips! Their most recent trip was to Food City where Mr. Taylor showed the class where the milk and dairy, meat and protein, breads and grains, fruits and vegetables, and of course, cookies and milk groups, are at the grocery store. The children walked into the giant refrigerator and freezer. They walked into a big truck trailer that brings the food to Food City. By going on these types of fields trips, the children experience so much more about the subjects they are learning at school by seeing, touching, smelling, hearing, and tasting them! This gives the children an opportunity to build an understanding of those words they will read as they begin to read. Before the students left Food City, all the preschoolers choose a healthy snack to take back to school! Another wonderful experience for preschoolers at Abingdon Elementary School!
