Interested students from Washington County's four high schools took the ASVAB at the Neff Center.
Washington County Schools offered the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery examination on February 10, 2012. Thirty-eight students took the test. The number represented the largest group ever to be tested since the Neff Center began offering the test eleven years ago.
The test has two values for the examinee. First, a pre-determined overall score must be attained before an individual can enlist in the armed forces. Secondly, Once a score is attained, students can be advised about their suitability for various jobs within the military.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors were invited to take the test. Local members of the armed services helped with proctoring. Washington County Schools salutes the young people who are considering making the nation's security part of their career plans.
