Damascus Middle School Gives to Others 12-20-2016

"Bearded" students posing with teacher.During this holiday season, Damascus Middle School students, faculty, and staff participated in several activities to give gifts to others who are not as fortunate as we are.  During the month of October, we voted with money in the Beard-Grower contest, a contest in which we chose which male staff member we most wanted to grow a beard!

GSMS A Trip to Biltmore Brings a Novel to Life 12-19-2016

AES Mrs. Roark’s Class Gingerbread House Village 12-19-2016

A Gingerbread House Village.Recently, Mrs. Roark’s class was awarded a PTA grant from their school. This grant was used to purchase a convection oven and a stove burner. A discussion was held on several precautions and safety rules for this equipment and then the cooking began!

Rhea Valley Students Participate in Hour of Code 12-19-2016

A girl and boy sitting at computers.Fourth and fifth grade Rhea Valley Elementary students participated in the Hour of Code on December 7th and 9th. The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week which was December 5-11. It is a global initiative of Code.org dedicated to increasing the awareness and understanding of computer science. Millions of students from around the world participate in the event each year.

VDOT Official Speaks to Holston FBLA 12-16-2016

A man standing with 3 students and smiling.Carl Reedy, the Assistant VDOT District Administrator for Washington County and the surrounding area, recently spoke to the HHS Future Business Leaders of America.  Mr. Reedy had the honor of being a faculty member at Holston when the school opened in 1964.  He remained there for the next four years, teaching Biology and coaching.  Mr. Reedy made a career change after his time as a teacher, transitioning into the Virginia Department of Transportation.  There he worked his way up the career ladder.  He now has one of the most prominent jobs in the department.

John S. Battle Cross-Country Celebrates a Successful Season 12-15-2016

GES News Crew Visits WCYB 12-14-2016

Students standing behind WCYB reporters.The GES News Crew had the privilege of touring the WCYB News studio with WCYB Sports Director, Casey Goetz on Thursday, December 8.  Students were able to tour the production studio, news room and studio while meeting several WCYB staff who work behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

WMS Hosts a Fall Bash! 12-13-2016
