Third graders at Abingdon Elementary School ended the school year in their Language Arts classes by reading and studying classic American Tall Tales. They then participated in a STEM activity correlated to each Tall Tale Character.
|Second Graders at WES Enjoy a Special Guest||05-17-2017||
Second graders always enjoy learning about Helen Keller's remarkable story. For the past two years, students have enjoyed a presentation by Diana Salyer, an instructional assistant at Watauga Elementary. In the past, Mrs. Salyer worked with visually impaired students and was able to give second graders a glimpse into the life of a blind student.

|Holston High School Business Department Receives High National Recognition||05-12-2017||
HHS Business Teachers Joy Munsey and Sammy Campbell recently traveled to New York City to be recognized by a national professional credentialing organization. Both teachers use the Working in Support of Education (W!SE) program to help their students gain a credential that gives them verified credit in their classes. The ceremony, held at the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank on April 19th, brought together the top performing schools and teachers in the nation.

Ms. Jennifer Daniel's English 11 students recently participated in end-of-the-year projects, which required each group to present a literary period from their study of American literature. Each group had 10-12 minutes to present the history, beliefs, and writing style of their assigned period.
