JSBHS Earns 2nd Place in the Sigma Zeta Math and Science Competition 11-30-2016

Teams of three from each school compete by taking tests in math and science. The science team was Sydni L., Lori L. and Trieu P.

HPES Second Grade Students Participate in Presidential Mock Election 11-29-2016

Holston Students Excel at Mathematics Competition 11-21-2016

Four high school students standing outdoors.On Tuesday, November 1, Holston High School sent a team of students to UVA-Wise to participate in the Sigma Zeta Math and Science Contest.  Team members Morgan K., Dianna S., Jacob J., and Sean L., led by Coach Shirley Snead, competed in the math contest against several other teams from high schools in our region.

John S. Battle GATE Students Learn About Appalachian Culture 11-18-2016

Students make a bridge with their hands while other students walk under.Recently, Ms. Anndrena Belcher, Appalachian storyteller, singer, and songwriter, taught, inspired and entertained junior and senior GATE students as part of their study of Appalachian literature and culture.  Ms. Belcher told of her own experience growing up in both the mountains of Kentucky and the city of Chicago.

WCCTEC Student Receives Johnson & Wales Scholarship 11-17-2016

A Culinary II student stands with her letter.Meghan T. was selected as the recipient of a scholarship to attend Johnson & Wales University.  Meghan's academic record and personal accomplishments earned her this distinguished award.  She will be living on campus and officially becomes a JWU Wildcat in May!

HPES First Grade Has (Pumpkin) Character! 11-16-2016

First Grade  Student Shows pumpkin.During the months of September and October, first grade students at High Point Elementary read lots of books and investigated many characteristics of fall.  As part of the study, the students went on a field trip to Fender’s Farm in Jonesborough, TN where they each got to pick and bring home an ear of corn, a gourd, and a small pumpkin.
