|Valley Fourth Graders Test Drops On a Penny||09-29-2014||
Recently fourth grade science students at Valley Institute conducted an experiment to find out how many drops of soapy water and fresh water the top of a penny would hold. Students in Mrs. Shortt's class worked with partners and were able to make observations, ask questions, and formed a hypothesis.

Mrs. Duncan’s English 9 Honors class recently performed “post-mortems” on characters from their summer reading, Robert Lipsyte’s The Contender. Students were assigned groups, and each group was assigned a specific character to analyze.

Mrs. Kiser fourth grade classes at Greendale Elementary School found a neat way to participate in Patriot Day this year. Patriot Day takes place each year on September 11 in order to remember all who gave their lives on the fateful day.

On September 16, Glade Spring Middle School hosted a special motivational program from Team Intense. Team members, Josh Whisneant and Ken Etta amazed the audience with feats of strength such as rolling up a frying pan and bending a half inch diameter piece of steel into a twisted pretzel-like shape.

High Point Elementary School 2nd Graders have been very busy reading this year! This year's reading theme for the school is "The Reading Factory" inspired by the movie "Willie Wonka". To kick off the theme, second grade enjoyed watching the movie to get them into the mood.
|Holston Singers Selected for Senior All-County Chorus||09-23-2014||
Five of Holston High School’s most accomplished members of the Chorus were selected for All-County Chorus. They received the honor at a competitive event at Patrick Henry High school on September 10th. Seniors Megan B. & Jennifer V., junior Ashelyn W., Senior Jesse R., and freshman Lauren W. were selected by the panel of judges to perform with the other top singers in the county.
