During the ceremony, current members read speeches about Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service; others lit candles representing each of these traits. During the taping ceremony, inductees received personalized messages from current members, as well as a yellow carnation – the symbol of the National Honor Society. Students with a 3.50 cumulative GPA are inducted into the Abingdon High School Chapter of the National Honor Society if they also demonstrate strong leadership skills and are committed to service and a good character.
