AHS Volleyball Team Hosts Volley for the Cure Event

A group of adults, men and women, stand on high school gym floor with school's volleyball team.Having been one of the first schools to help establish this event with the VHSL six years ago, Abingdon High School has continued to host Volley for the Cure where they hosted Virginia High School on October 21.

Players, coaches, spectators, and students joined in with their pink attire to show support for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure event.  Proceeds from this event will go to the Komen foundation for breast cancer research.  Also, recognized at this event was awareness for colon cancer.  Survivors were asked to join the volleyball team and coaches on the floor where they were honored for their battle against breast and colon cancer.  A serving event was held between games where free t-shirts were given away.  Thanks to everyone who sponsored, attended, and had a role in the success of this worthwhile cause. The Falcons went on to win over Virginia High in 3 games.  Rachel Harding is the AHS head volleyball coach.
