Damascus Middle School’s FFA Wins Contest!

A group of students stand in the Agriscience classroom.The newly-formed Damascus Middle School branch of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) recently took first place at the Plant Science Career Development Event held at Holston High School.

Composed of club members Tristan A., Donivan A., Allie C., Mary-Kate C., Taylor M., Chasity O., Morgan P., Johnny R., Hunter T., and Blake T., the group competed against E.B. Stanley and Wallace Middle Schools' FFA teams. Each student completed a 30-question written test, identified horticulture equipment and common garden, indoor, and landscape plants, and solved four horticulture problems. The DMS team captured four of the top five spots in the written test with Hunter T. in fifth place, Taylor M. in fourth place, Mary-Kate C. in second place, and Chasity O. in first place! The team’s afternoon practices with sponsor Mrs. Mary K. Rhudy definitely paid off!
