Damascus Middle School Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

A group of students pose while wearing sunglasses. Each year, communities across the nation recognize a week in October as Red Ribbon Week, in an effort to encourage students to lead healthy lives, free from the harmful effects of drugs. During the week of October 27-31, Damascus Middle School students showed their commitment to being drug-free as they celebrated Red Ribbon Week with a variety of fun activities.

On Monday, we “socked it to drugs” with crazy socks; on Tuesday, our “hats [were] on to being drug-free;” on Wednesday, we “gave drugs the boot” with boots; and on Thursday, we made an effort to “shade out drugs” with our sunglasses!  Friday was a day for everyone to wear red, and prizes were given out during lunch to students who were wearing their red bracelets. Thank you to our SCA, who sponsors Red Ribbon Week each year, and reminds us to make a decision against drugs.
