Damascus Middle School Student is not “Sheepish” about Showing

A girl guides her sheep during a show.Damascus Middle School eighth-grader Kay Leigh H. has lots of experience with animals; in fact, she has spent most of her life raising animals on her farm in Damascus.

She loves her cattle and horses, and this past spring she was given the opportunity to raise sheep, thanks to Holston High School Agriculture teacher Ms. Sarah Scyphers.  Throughout the summer, Kay Leigh and seven other Holston High School students took turns taking care of their sheep, which are housed in a barn at Holston High School.  On Friday, August 12, she took Estabon to show at the Rich Valley Fair.  She says that although Estabon is not always easy to take care of, he behaves well in shows because he loves to be the center of attention!  Kay Leigh is looking forward to more shows with Estabon this year!
