High Point Elementary 3rd Graders Become Zoo Keepers

Two students sitting at a computer working together. In preparation for an upcoming fieldtrip to Brights Zoo, High Point third graders participated in a collaborative learning project to learn more about the animals at the zoo.

First, students worked in pairs to choose a unique animal such as the Two Toed Sloth, Prehensile Tailed Porcupine, Cabybara, or Tapir.  Then, they completed a research map about their animal using a Webquest to gather information about the animal.  Next, the students created a digital poster about the animal using images they found online and their research maps.  Finally, students shared the posters with each other and information about their animal during the trip to the zoo.
