Battle High School traveled to the University of Virginia at Wise on November 1 to participate in the Sigma Zeta Math and Science Competition. Teams of three from each school compete by taking tests in math and science. The science team was Sydni L., Lori L. and Trieu P.

The JSB math team won second place in the large school division! The team was based on the combined scores of Lori L., Drew W., and Adrianna N., one junior and two sophomores, respectively.

Other students who competed individually included Truc P., Rielly S., Alyssa M., and Morgan S. These students also performed well. John S. Battle proved they are building a strong foundation for the future.7 out of 9 student competing  were sophomores who have not had a class beyond Biology or Algebra II. The faculty at John S.
