Meadowview Elementary First Graders Take a Step Back in Time

A line of Meadowview Elementary first grade students follow a lady dressed in period clothes to the next location on the grounds of Rocky Mount Living History Museum. On October third, Meadowview’s first grade class stepped back in time to 1791. This isn't some science fiction story! They took their annual field trip to Rocky Mount Living History Museum in Piney Flats, Tennessee.

They learned about jobs like blacksmithing and weaving. They met servants who took care of chores in the late 1700s. Boys even got to grind coffee while girls churned butter. Groups spent time playing authentic games from the time period. They also got to make a corn dolly like the settlers in the area would have made. Fortunately, they made it back to 2014 in time to catch the bus home!
