Meadowview Elementary School Takes a Field Trip to Doe River Gorge
Tue, November 18, 2014
On Friday, October 24, 2014, fifth grade students at Meadowview Elementary took a field trip to Doe River Gorge to participate in many interactive learning activities. Students were able to take a ride on the original Tweetsie Railroad, traveling through the gorge where they were able to take in the beautiful fall foliage.
In addition to the train ride, students got to learn how to properly brush a horse as well as ride one. They got to take a jeep ride where they got to go "four-wheeling" through the river and see some of the cabins deep in the woods. Other students got to take a leap of faith. Kiley said, "I loved it! I had to climb up a ladder to a platform (which was like a box) where I had a rope tied to me. Whenever I jumped it, felt like I was swinging in a swing. It was awesome! I even got to jump twice!"
When the students returned back to school they said that this was one of the best field trips that they have ever been on. Many loved the leap of faith where they were able to face their fear of heights.
