Reading, It's in the Bag!

A male student in a green Old Navy shirt holds his bag.Seventh grade students in Mrs. Phillips' and Mrs. O'Dell's English classes have experienced a book report in a whole new way.  Students were assigned to read a novel and do nothing else.

The students were then asked to bring in five items that represented their novel to write a short synopsis of the novel, to describe some static and dynamic characters, as well as design a poster representing their novel.  They were also asked to create a poster to encourage others to read and earn a Varsity Letter in Reading! Students then assembled their books to prepare for a speed book talk.  Students spent a class period in a rotation circle presenting and listening to students "reports" and giving "reviews" on the projects they witnessed.
