VIES 3rd Graders Have A Reading Fair

Three students holding up tri-fold boards to show off their novel studyThird grade students from Valley Institute Elementary recently completed a reading fair project to learn the different components of a story. The students read a fiction novel and included elements such as the title, author, mood/tone, authors purpose, setting, characters, plot, and other parts of their story.

All of these elements were on display on a tri-fold board and were set out for all the students to view on the stage in the cafeteria. The students creatively decorated their boards and caused many of the students to seek out these books to read for themselves in the library!  Many books that were presented included The Magic Tree House Series, Junie B. Jones, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and many more popular stories. This was a wonderful way to encourage all of the Valley students to keep working hard to become million word readers!
