Wallace Middle School GATE Program Hosts Science Fair

3 Children standing in front of poster boards.The Wallace Middle School GATE program hosted its annual science fair on Monday, January 26. Forty-four participants from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades displayed 38 projects in the school auditorium. The projects were judged by a team of 3 judges.

 Abigail B. from the seventh grade took the first place blue ribbon with a look at bacteria found in cat, dog, and human mouths. Her project was titled, “Has Your Pet Kissed You Lately?”  Nick G. from the sixth grade won second place with a study of how different materials decompose. His project was titled, “What to Recycle and Why?” Racheal S. from the sixth grade earned third place with her project on the effect of PH on DNA extraction techniques in fruit. Her project was titled, “Does PH Effect DNA Extraction?”  Honorable mention was awarded to Lauren L. from the sixth grade with her project titled, “Keeping it Clean,” which compared detergent brands, and Richmond R. from the eighth grade with his project titled, “Which Battery?” a comparison of battery brands. Wallace Middle School would like to congratulate these students and all who participated and helped make this year’s science fair a success.
