Wallace Middle School Student Places First in DAR Essay Contest

A female student is holding her certificate.Ainsley D., an eighth grade student at Wallace Middle School, placed first in the school division and first in the region for the Black's Fort Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) American History Essay Contest.

As a tribute to the one-hundredth anniversary of the end of World War I, students were asked to write about how the war impacts their current and future life as a citizen of the United States.  Ainsley wrote a beautiful story about the home front and how the war efforts lead by women changed women's roles in American society.  Ainsley received her award from the Daughters of the American Revolution during their March meeting in Abingdon. Congratulations, to Ainsley for a job well done!
