Wallace Middle School Students Tour Rocky Mount

A group of students are gathered around a table in a cabin listening to a person speak. On May 17, 2016, Wallace Middle School students from the sixth grade took a trip back in time to tour the living history museum of Rocky Mount.  Students experienced first-hand several demonstrations of early living from the late 1700’s such as weaving, spinning, blacksmithing, cooking, long-hunting and shearing.

Workers there presented the lifestyles of the Cobb family and their visitors and relatives, describing the challenges they would have faced during that time period, and the privileges of the wealthy from that era as well.  The students had a wonderful time and learned a great deal about the history of our area.
