Watauga Elementary School Celebrates Veterans Day

Students dressed in U.S. colors on school stage.Watauga Elementary third graders packed the gymnasium with parents and Veterans from the community. This annual gathering gives third graders an opportunity to delve into the history of Veterans Day and the patriotic symbols we use to honor our nation.

The stage was filled with a sea of red, white, and blue. Each branch of the military had a student dressed in their official uniform and famous Americans who had served their country were highlighted. Highland’s color guard posted and retired the colors for the night. The students sang, recited poetry, and gave genuine thanks to those who had sacrificed for the freedoms they know and love today.
