Woodworking Artisan Visits JSBHS

Students sit on stage behind two tables. On April 26, Ms. Jennifer Daniel's Dual Enrollment English 12 students participated in a woodworking presentation by local artisans Harold Dunaway and J.E. King.  Students learned about how Mr. Dunaway crafts his different pieces and develops a variety of items ranging from beautiful Noah's Ark sets to intricate puzzles.

Individual students worked in small groups to try to solve some of the more complicated puzzles and also were able to discuss specific questions with Mr. Dunaway on how items in his presentation were made.  Originally from Mississippi, Mr. Dunaway currently resides in Abingdon, VA, and his work is displayed at the Heartwood Artisan Market.
