Re-Opening of Schools Plan Summary 7/10/2020

For planning purposes and in order to reopen schools on August 10, Washington County Public Schools will implement a hybrid schedule in which students in respective cohorts (A and B) will alternate in-person and remote learning days using the following schedule: Cohort “A” to attend in-person on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Cohort “B” to attend in-person on Thursdays and Fridays. Therefore, Cohort “A” will participate in remote learning on Thursdays and Fridays, and Cohort “B” will participate in remote learning on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesdays are designated for specific tutoring, remediation, review and catch-up, collaborative planning and deep cleaning. To begin the school year, this approach is necessary for us to adhere to current social distancing and other mitigation guidelines. Additionally, we are working to ensure siblings participate in the same cohort. Your child’s school will notify you which cohort students are assigned.

We are excited to reopen schools with some in-person learning for all students and are very hopeful to expand the in-person learning experience as soon as we can. As always, circumstances and plans remain fluid and are subject to change prior to the opening of school.

The school division’s detailed return-to-learning plan will be made available to the public soon.
