Valley Institute Elementary School hosted its first career fair on March 12th with 27 career fields being represented, including doctor, judge, fireman, policeman, military, pet groomer, forester, nursing, and many others.

Watauga Elementary School participated in a kickoff assembly for The Morning Mile on March 22, 2019. All students in grades 2-5 have the opportunity to participate in the program. The idea behind The Morning Mile is that students have a chance to engage in moderate to rigorous exercise.

On Wednesday, April 10, over 200 high school band students from Washington County, VA traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to perform for the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76'ers game. Each of the four county high schools was represented at the performance.

Ed Kiefer, renowned composer, clinician, and retired educator, came to work with the Damascus Middle School Band on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. The 7th and 8th grade students were preparing one of his compositions, “Whitewater Run,” for the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association Concert Assessment at Virginia High School.
