On April 1, WCCTEC students Bayleigh D., Haley D., Kayla T., and Hunter J. competed in a C.S.I. competition hosted by Radford University.
|Wallace Students Win the Design and Engineering Competition in the Virginia Regional Middle School Science Bowl||04-11-2017||
Five Wallace Middle School students, Alexis C., Parker G., Alex J., Sydney L., and Rachael S., traveled with their coaches to Newport News to represent southwest Virginia in the Regional Science Bowl Competition at the event at Jefferson Lab on March 4. The teams spent the morning in a series of fast-paced round robin matches. Questions covered topics ranging from mathematics and general science to physical science, Earth and space, life science and energy.

Instructional Technology Teacher, Tammy Martin has opened the “Chromebook Cafe” at Glade Spring Middle School. The cafe opened its doors on April 6th to seventh graders who had made prior “reservations” to attend the cafe during their exploratory period.

|WCCTEC Students Enroute to 2017 SkillsUSA State Competition!||04-04-2017||
WCCTEC recently completed the District 8 Skills USA competitions. WCCTEC has nineteen students eligible to compete at the state level. The state SkillsUSA competitions will be held in Fredericksburg, VA on April 28-29.

Washington County VA Public Schools has prepared a Special Education Annual Plan and Applications for Part B Flow-Through and Part B Early Childhood Special Education Grant funds for the 2017-2018 school year. This plan and applications are available for public review and comment at the School Board Annex at 220 Stanley Street-Upper Level, Abingdon, VA from April 1 through May 1, 2017 during normal business hours. Please contact the Office of Special Services to view or submit comments at 276-739-3041. The plan and applications will be presented to the School Board on Monday, May 1, 2017

The Greendale Elementary Choir is gearing up for some exciting spring events this semester. The choir recently performed for Greendale’s Academic Review, where teachers and administrators from across the county got to hear the choir showcase their hard work. As a result of this performance, the Greendale Choir was invited to sing at a meeting of the Virginia Association of School Superintendents on April 26th.

|Rhea Valley Elementary Celebrates Art Month||03-31-2017||
Rhea Valley Elementary artists, Landon S. and Matthew B. ,of the 5th grade, knew right away what they wanted to create out of clay in the art room this year. Deer and nature themes have been consistent throughout Landon's art career at RVES and Mrs. Compton, the art teacher, can recall Matthew incorporating tractors and farm scenes into most art projects as far back as Kindergarten.
