|WCCTEC Student Receives Johnson & Wales Scholarship||11-17-2016||
Meghan T. was selected as the recipient of a scholarship to attend Johnson & Wales University. Meghan's academic record and personal accomplishments earned her this distinguished award. She will be living on campus and officially becomes a JWU Wildcat in May!
|HPES First Grade Has (Pumpkin) Character!||11-16-2016||
During the months of September and October, first grade students at High Point Elementary read lots of books and investigated many characteristics of fall. As part of the study, the students went on a field trip to Fender’s Farm in Jonesborough, TN where they each got to pick and bring home an ear of corn, a gourd, and a small pumpkin.
|Maisy Mouse Visits the Greendale Elementary Library||11-15-2016||
Greendale Elementary kindergarten students were surprised with a special visit from Maisy Mouse in the school library. Maisy Mouse stars in her very own books written by Lucy Cousins.
|Holston Cross Country Team Enjoys Continued Success||11-14-2016||
Holston High School’s Cross Country team, under the direction of Coach Sammy Campbell, enjoyed another successful year. At the conference meet on October 26th at Sugar Hollow Park in Bristol, nine runners finished well enough to qualify move on to the regional event at Eastside High School in Coeburn.

On Thursday, October 27, 2016, John S. Battle High School honored its 2015-2016 Washington County Community Scholars with a breakfast. Parents and other family members were invited to share in the occasion.
|MES Visited by “Spanish Explorers” from Patrick Henry High School||11-11-2016||
Patrick Henry High School Spanish II students came to Meadowview to represent the early Spanish explorers. 5th grade students acted as the First Americans greeted by the conquistadors. The fifth-grade students had to communicate with the Spanish explorers who had landed on their land.
|WES First Graders Make Creature Catchers!||11-11-2016||
First grade students at Watauga Elementary were challenged to create "creature catchers" after a week long investigation of spiders. During this STEM activity, students worked in teams to create a contraption that would trap a plastic spider when dropped from above.
|GSMS Students Explore Flower Arranging in Agriscience Class||11-11-2016||
Students in Mrs. Rhudy’s 8th grade Agriscience class explored basic flower arranging to finish up their 12 week exploratory class at GSMS. Students learned about the history of flower arranging from the ancient Egyptian's methods and designs, through the famous Greek Head Wreaths, past the Middle Ages tussy-mussy bouquets, to the influence of the French Baroque and American Victorian Age.
|MES Second Graders Have a Howling Good Time at Bays Mountain!||11-10-2016||
Meadowview Elementary School’s second grade students enjoyed a fun and informative field trip to Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport on October 25th. Our well-behaved and attentive group was introduced to an active pack of wolves, and they learned about what wolves eat, their habitat, and how a leader is chosen of a wolf pack.
