|NOTICE OF MEETING||04-01-2019||
The Washington County Special Education Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. The Annual Plan will be presented for review by of the Advisory Committee. The meeting will be held in the Washington County School Board conference room of the main school board office. The meeting is open to the public. Questions regarding the meeting may be directed to Connie Phillips, Supervisor of Special Education, at 739-3041.

At an awards assembly on March 19, Baleigh B., an 8th grade student at Glade Spring Middle School, was recognized as the Eastern Division Winner of the 2018-2019 NSDAR American History Essay Contest.
|Wallace Middle School | Students Participate in Hour of Code||03-27-2019||
Students at Wallace Middle School participated in activities through the Hour of Code event that began on Monday, December 3. Sixth and seventh graders, as well as an eighth-grade exploratory class, enjoyed the opportunities to learn and practice coding during library classes.

Officer Scott Gemmell with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office spoke to Watauga Elementary 2nd graders about his position as the School Resource Officer.
|Valley Institute Elementary School | Celebrates Dr. Seuss||03-22-2019||
Valley Institute kicked off the week celebrating Dr. Seuss with a vocabulary parade. Students selected a vocabulary word and then dressed in costume to represent the word.
|Holston High School | Student Wins MLK Essay Contest||03-22-2019||
Josh H. was the winner of the Martin Luther King Essay Contest from Holston High School. His essay, “Standing Arm in Arm,” was chosen to be read by Josh at the ceremony commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King Day in Abingdon.
|Watauga Elementary School | Students Learn to Play Golf||03-21-2019||
During the week of February 25-29, 2019, Watauga students had the chance to learn all about the game of golf from Coach Adam Dean. Coach Dean is the program director for The First Tee of Tri-Cities.
|Holston High School | FBLA Visits ETSU||03-21-2019||
On Wednesday, Jan. 23rd, a group of FBLA club members toured the campus of ETSU in Johnson City, TN. They were able to see a variety of the halls and residences on campus, as well as other facilities that ETSU students are able to use freely. The tour guides, current students at the university, were very helpful.

The month of February was filled with lots of jumping and learning about how to take the best care of our hearts for students at Valley Institute. Students joined in on the Kids Heart Challenge through the American Heart Association.
|Patrick Henry High School | IT IS MASSIVE!||03-12-2019||
Patrick Henry chemistry students conducted a series of minilabs in order to prove the Law of Conservation of Mass. Students worked through five experiments, measuring the mass of the reactants and the mass of the products.
