Patrick Henry chemistry students conducted a series of minilabs in order to prove the Law of Conservation of Mass. Students worked through five experiments, measuring the mass of the reactants and the mass of the products.

|Washington County Schools Announces Kindergarten Registration||03-11-2019||
Kindergarten Registration will be held at all seven elementary schools in Washington County, Virginia on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 12:00-6:00 pm. Children who will be 5 years of age by September 30, 2019 are eligible for kindergarten enrollment. During registration, all children will be screened for instructional needs. Documentation needed for registration includes birth certificate, immunization records and evidence of a physical exam within the past year. |Special Education Advisory Committee Meeting||03-08-2019||
The Washington County Special Education Advisory Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. If school is not in session that day, the meeting will be cancelled. The meeting will be held in the top floor of the Annex Building. Questions regarding the meeting may be directed to Connie Phillips, Supervisor of Special Education at 739-3041.

Second Graders at Watauga Elementary School presented Dr. Doug Arnold with a gift for School Board Appreciation Month. Dr. Arnold was given a book titled, Cara’s Kindness.

On Monday, November 19, WMS eighth grade students were able to take a trip into the future with Career Exploration and the Reality Store with Virginia Cooperative Extension at the Higher Education Center.

The gifted students at Damascus Middle School recently participated in a unit of study about Blood Typing. The nurse at Damascus Middle School, Michelle Stiltner, helped with this unit by taking blood from each student using a lancet.
