The News Crew and Media Club recently hosted WCYB meteorologist Chris Michaels at Glade Spring Middle School. The students were initially excited to have a television celebrity in their midst, but once he began speaking with them; they were genuinely engaged and inspired by his enthusiasm and knowledge.

The rain didn’t dampen the spirit of fall at the Watauga Elementary PTA Annual Fall Festival. Parents and students enjoyed inflatable bounce houses, carnival games, silent auctions, bingo, a train ride, and a cake walk. The school was buzzing with excitement throughout the evening. Students bounded from game to game and inflatable to inflatable.

Devin Q., a senior student at Patrick Henry High School, has made dissecting frogs much easier! With the assistance of a 3 dimensional printer and a .STL file created and uploaded on Thingiverse, Devin printed Patrick Henry’s first frog!

|DMS Agriscience Class Hosts “Best of Show” Dog Show!||10-23-2015||
Mrs. Rhudy’s 8th Grade Agriscience Class at Damascus Middle School hosted a “Best of Show” dog show. Students were required to choose a breed of dog and research information about this dog. Using this information, students created informational posters about these breeds. The class invited special guest judges, Mr. Keith, Mrs. Rasnake and Dr. Ratliff to be the judges for the event.

A huge congratulations to PHHS Senior Chloe C. for successfully auditioning into the VA Music Educators 2015 Honors Choir. This honor means she will perform with the most selective high school choir in the commonwealth.
|Holston’s Danielle B. Scores 1,000TH Assist||10-21-2015||
Danielle B., a senior at Holston High School, has been a volleyball standout and an anchor for her team. As a freshman playing junior varsity, Danielle had over 200 assists. That was a sign of things to come. Danielle joined the varsity as a sophomore and led the team in assists every year.

On September 10, 2015 Master Deputies Tom Dula and Eric Hinchey from the Washington County Sheriff's Office visited the Criminal Justice class at the WCCTEC to demonstrate the abilities of their K9's in service.
|AES 5th Graders Join In On Cross-Country Adventure||10-20-2015||
On Friday, September 12, 2015, the Abingdon Elementary 5th graders got to “join in” on an amazing cross country journey. The 5th graders had the privilege of doing a FaceTime interview and chat with Ryan Ray. Ryan Ray was on a 3,010 mile cross country walking journey from Los Angeles, California to New York City.
