|Wallace Middle School Students Release Trout||05-19-2015||
Wallace Middle School GATE and FFA students traveled to the weir dam below the South Holston Dam to release the trout they raised during their participation in the Trout in the Classroom Program. Again this year at WMS, Trout in the Classroom was a joint effort between WMS GATE students and FFA students.

Watauga Elementary School third graders visited the Barter Theatre Main Stage on April 28. The students experienced an upbeat musical rendition about Junie B. Jones’ first day of school in the first grade. Junie B. is a girl after our own hearts.
|Damascus Middle School Students Awarded in 4-H Presentation Contest||05-18-2015||
Damascus Middle School 4-H members held their annual Presentation and Public Speaking Program, during which 25 students from the sixth-eighth grades completed oral presentations or illustrated talks. This particular 4-H program is targeted to build self-esteem, communication skills, and leadership, while giving members a chance to explore their interests and hobbies.

March is the Month of The Arts across the country. At High Point Elementary School, they celebrated in a very special way. For the March P.T.A. program, the 4th and 5th grade choir performed a program of various jazz music and all students in grade kindergarten-5th had artwork on display at the schools annual art gallery.

John Battle’s Queen of Hearts contestant, Elissa T., raised money for the American Heart Association by holding a “Principal for a Day” drawing. For a one dollar donation, students received a chance to trade places with Mr. Hawkins for a day.

The Greendale Choir, under the direction of Mr. Bradley A. Fore, traveled to Pigeon Forge, TN for their second annual participation in the Music in the Parks choral festival and adjudication on Saturday, May 9. The fifty-member choir arrived at Greendale early that morning, excited to begin their trip.

High Point Elementary is starting a Robotics Club for 4th and 5th grade students. The students are learning computer programming and robotics.

Our kindergarten stars shined very bright as they paraded into the gymnasium waving and smiling looking for their family and friends and giving the viewers the perfect opportunity for pictures and loud cheers. Following the parade the kindergarteners showed the spectators the bunny hop dance.
|Damascus Middle School Sixth-Graders Play the Stock Market Game!||05-15-2015||
After studying the Stock Market Crash of 1929, students in Mr. Joe Preston’s social studies classes at Damascus Middle School played the stock market themselves! To play, students were given $100,000 to invest in ten stocks which they felt would rise in price over the next six weeks.
