|JSBHS Student Wins Virginia State Food City Best Bagger Competition||09-24-2015||
Kayelyn H., won the Virginia State Food City Best Bagger Competition that was held at Food City on Euclid Avenue September 12. She competed against 30 other baggers across the state and will now advance to the next level in Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, September 15, students of the Damascus Middle School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter attended the Washington County Fair Livestock Judging Contest with schools from all over the surrounding counties. This is the first year that Damascus Middle School has participated in livestock judging.

In anticipation for our One School, One Book in October first grade teacher Ms. Jennifer Cole used her talents to get the children excited about “The One and Only Ivan”. The drawing is displayed in the library along with the book and a picture of the baby gorilla that the school adopted.

First grade students at Watauga Elementary School have started off their year in music class with lots of successful rhythm activities. First students reviewed their vocabulary word rhythm which is the long and short sounds and silences in music.

A crowd of fans turned out for the 2015 PTA Open House to meet the Rebels and kick off a new school year! Students participating in volleyball, football, band, and golf were introduced to parents, grandparents, and teachers. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the school and these young athletes. On Thursday, September 3, Watauga Elementary School third graders attended Conservation Camp at Sugar Hollow Park. It was a fun outdoor learning experience for all involved. Students rotated through stations to learn more about conserving and protecting Earth and our natural resources.
