Abingdon Elementary Second Grade Celebrates Community Helpers
Post date:
Mon, October 10, 2016
Second graders at AES enjoyed an afternoon of learning about some special Community Helpers. Washington County’s own Deputy Nichols, along with an EMT crew, came to let the students explore the police car and ambulances.
They also spoke with them about different safety concerns, calling 911, and their different responsibilities. Students were able to get into the vehicles and were able to lay in the stretcher. We had one special birthday boy who even had the opportunity to sound off the ambulance’s sirens! As an extension, the children did a writing activity about becoming police officers when they grow up.
