AHS Earth Day Activities in a Combined Effort
Mon, April 27, 2015
Abingdon High School and Holston High School AT2 students volunteered to assist in Earth Day on Saturday, April 18, 2015, held at the Fields-Penn House in Abingdon, VA.
Students assisted in set-up and take-down, game facilitating, artwork, and face-painting. AT2 met with members of Mount Rogers Appalachian Trail Club, a volunteer group which helps maintain 60 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Mount Rogers AT club has combined goals with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy to encourage youth to participate in maintaining the Trail. On May 2, AT2 students will assist these agencies in removing invasive, non-native plants on the Appalachian Trail in Damascus. Thanks to Kim Laws, AHS teacher, and Marywood Sparks, AHS library secretary, for their efforts and leadership of this group.
