AHS Students Win Several Awards in the Artistic Excellence Competition

An art reception was held in their honor on Sunday, March 14, at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol, VA. Nine students from Mrs. Anderson’s art classes competed in this event.

The art contest was open to high school art students from upper East Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia. It was sponsored by a national program “Art in Public Places”, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, and local businesses. Featured is Mariah F. with her first-place artwork in the Oil Painting Category which is titled “Dean Winchester”. Mariah won $75.00 as a first-place winner. Anna W. won third place in the Oil Painting Category for her artwork titled “Cole” and received $25.00. In the Acrylic Painting Category Mariah F. place 2nd for a prize of $50.00 for her artwork titled “Harry Potter”, and Ashley D. placed third for a prize of $25.00 for her artwork titled “Luna”.  Seth H. placed second in the Mixed Media Category for a prize of $50.00 for his artwork “Celestial Being”.  Katherine M. placed first in the Drawing Category for her artwork titled “Ariana Grande,” winning $75.00.  Carl M., Madison A., and Lydia B. also had artworks on display. Congratulations to these amazing artists!
