Damascus Middle School Collects Pajamas!

Two students give pajamas to a teacher. Damascus Middle School participated in the sixth annual “Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive,” sponsored by Scholastic, from November 24-December 12.  For each pair of pajamas donated, Scholastic donates a book.

Since its beginning in 2001, the “Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive” has donated over 1 million pajamas and books to children in foster care, group homes, orphanages, and shelters.  DMS students were challenged to donate 75 pairs of pajamas during this time, with a promise of getting to see their teachers wear their pajamas to school if they met this challenge!  Even though they came short of the goal of 75 pairs of pajamas, DMS students did donate 50 pairs.  The pajamas collected will go to a local organization, Faith in Action, so 50 children in our own community will receive pajamas and a free book, perfect for a bedtime story!   This was a special project during a special time of year, when giving to others is especially important.  Mrs. Donna Musick, sponsor of this project, was proud of the spirit of giving shown by DMS students!
