Damascus Middle School Eighth-Graders are Busin’ for Books

A group of students sit in front of a library sign.Damascus Middle School teacher Mrs. Robin Holmes is providing an opportunity for eighth-grade students to visit the Damascus branch of the Washington County Public Library monthly as a service learning project for her Master’s Program.  Busin’ for Books began on Wednesday, October 22, and eight students traveled to the library to get library cards, learn their way around the library, and check out the selection of books and DVDs!

After making their choices, Ethan G., Montana G., Cody H., Sabrina L., Diedra N., Sarah O., Elizabeth S., and D.J. T. settled in the community room to enter their guesses in a Teen Read Week contest, in hopes of winning a nice prize!  Librarian Linda Brown also spent some time talking with the students about library procedures and encouraged the students to consider the library as a place to volunteer for their Washington County Community Scholar hours.  The Damascus branch of the Washington County Public Library is certainly a welcoming and cozy place the students will look forward to visiting monthly!
