Damascus Middle School Students Support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

A group of students stand in front of a wall. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital impacts the lives of thousands of families annually and has made a profound impact on the Damascus Middle School community through the treatment the hospital staff provided for one of our own students.  Diagnosed with cancer four years ago, this student is a living example of the miracle St. Jude’s works to bring about in every child who goes there for treatment, free of charge.

He seeks to bring about awareness, recently participating in a motorcycle ride to St. Jude and an interview with WCYB about St. Jude’s impact on his life!  Another way to bring about awareness is through the St. Jude Math-a-Thon, which was recently sponsored at DMS by sixth-grade teacher Mrs. Donna Musick.  Fifteen students, Haley B., Brady B., Carson B., Becca B., Stacy D., KayLeigh H., Samantha J., Austin L., Chandler L., Hailey R., Dominick R., Seth S., Rachel S., Bethany S., and Clara V., participated in the Math-a-Thon and raised $875.46 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  The top fundraisers in each grade level were as follows:  Stacy D., sixth grade, with $101.00; Carson B., seventh grade, with $196.00; and Clara V., eighth grade with $76!
