Glade Spring Middle School Student Attends Summer STEAM
Fri, October 17, 2014
Glade Spring Middle School sixth grader, Ariel E., successfully completed Summer STEAM 2014. Summer STEAM is the Virginia Science Technology Engineering and Applied Mathematics Academy’s signature summer offering intended to inspire and expose rising sixth through eighth graders from across Virginia to STEAM content, applied learning, and leadership development.
Over 300 students competed to attend Summer STEAM 2014’s cost-free, one-week, residential academy of intensive, immersive learning. One hundred and thirty one students were invited to study math reasoning, encryption, material science, physics, math modeling, or entrepreneurship. In addition, the young scholars participated in leadership seminars, interactive sessions with STEAM professionals, field trips to museums and excavation sites, and wellness and recreational activities. There are now 187 Summer STEAM Ambassadors in Virginia representing the state’s most able and motivated students. Keep up the good work, Ariel! GSMS is proud of you!
