Greasers vs. Socs at Wallace Middle School
Wed, March 1, 2017
Eighth graders at Wallace Middle School in Ms. Blevins and Mrs. Mutter’s English classes recently read the timeless novel, The Outsiders. After reading the novel, the two classes chose to dress up as either a Soc or a Greaser.
The students truly made these characters come to life. The Greasers wore blue jeans, leather jackets, and greased hair while the Socs wore madras (plaid print) shirts and blue jeans or khakis. The students really enjoyed dressing up and taking on these roles. These students also participated in a variety of other activities including essays, newspaper articles, and storyboard presentations.
