The Greendale Choir Tried Something New
Wed, May 4, 2016
The Greendale Choir is gearing up for its end-of-the-year events. Up first is the choir’s trip to Dollywood on Saturday, May 7. The choir will be leaving from Greendale early that morning, travelling to Pigeon Forge, TN, singing in front of two judges who will score the choir based on several performance criteria, and spending the afternoon in Dollywood. That evening, they will attend an awards ceremony where their score will be revealed, then travel back home to Abingdon. What a day!
The following Thursday, May 12, the Greendale Choir will present their annual Spring Concert. Mr. Fore is trying out a brand new “experiment” this spring. Several members of the Greendale faculty, along with a number of choir parents, will be joining the Greendale Choir on stage for a special combined performance that evening. Rehearsals with the new Parent/Teacher Choir have already begun, and Mr. Fore is excited to bring such an enthusiastic and talented group of teachers and parents together with the Greendale Choir!
The Parent/Teacher Choir is but a small part of the Greendale Choir’s Spring Concert. The choir will also showcase the two pieces they took to competition in Dollywood as well as several other songs the students have
been working hard on since January. In addition, the choir will help dedicate our new-to-us baby grand piano, graciously donated by Greendale’s very own Carey Gilbert. It is sure to be a night of wonderful music making!
Mr. Fore would like to sincerely thank all the parents and teachers who have volunteered for his “experiment.” He is also extremely proud of the hard work each member of the Greendale Choir has put into preparing their spring events. Everyone is invited to attend the Greendale Choir’s Spring Concert on Thursday, May 12, at 7:00 PM in the Forum at Greendale.
