High Point Elementary School Fifth Graders Experiment with the Rock Cycle
Fri, February 9, 2018
High Point fifth graders are learning a lot about the rock cycle. Students are creating diagrams of the rock cycle, classifying different types of rocks, and learning how different rock transformations occur.
To conclude the unit, students participated in a "rock and roll" day where they got to dress as rock stars, listen to rock and roll music, make rock candy, and look at the rock cycle using different types of snacks. Students were also instructed to bring in a rock to experiment with. Students weighed and measured their rock and had to identify the type of rock they brought. Abby K. said the best part of “rock and roll” day was “being able to eat her way through the rock cycle”. The students had a “rocking” time and learned so much!
