High Point Elementary School | Game Time With Decimals at High Point

Two students playing decimal games.Fifth grade students at High Point Elementary are learning a lot about decimal computation. Students played a game to practice multiplying decimals.

The students each had a different game board with multiplication products listed in boxes and a “deck” of multiplication problems. With a partner, students would draw a problem from the deck and solve it independently. After solving the problem they would compare the two answers.  If students both had the same answer, they would cover the answer on the game board with a Bingo chip. If they had different answers they would rework it and talk about the error. The first student to connect four products in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally won the game. Students were discussing math, helping one another, and having fun. It was a great day multiplying decimals!
