High Point Elementary School Kindergarten Students Go on a Bear Hunt!
Thu, September 18, 2014
Did you see that bear? You know the one, with big green eyes and a fuzzy little tail. High Point kindergarteners enjoyed a week of bear hunting along with some other favorite bear tales such as Corduroy, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, various versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and of course, We’re Going On a Bear Hunt. What better way for the class of 2027 to begin their educational journey, than by enjoying many new learning experiences with some favorite and well-loved bear stories. A new school with new and unfamiliar faces can be quite overwhelming for the kindergarteners. With the help from some beloved story book character, the students were able to familiarize themselves with all of the new places and faces at High Point Elementary School.
A variety of engaging activities were planned by the kindergarten teachers that included retelling the stories with puppets, props, and songs. Students sorted bears, created bears, and told the class about their favorite teddy bear friends. The kindergarteners completed their first week of school by bringing in their favorite bears from home, and enjoying a tea party with their well-worn teddy bear friends and their new kindergarten friends.
