Holston FFA’s Parliamentary Procedure Team Makes its Mark

The Future Farmers’ of America of Holston High School has demonstrated once again why their program is considered the best in the region. On March 18th, The HHS FFA Chapter placed 2nd in the Virginia State Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event.
The parliamentary team, which consisted of six students, traveled to Turner Ashby High School and competed against eight of the most competitive FFA chapters in the state. Parliamentary Procedure is one of the most challenging competitions in the FFA which takes more preparation than any other and is often referred to as the “Super Bowl” of Career Development Events. The Virginia FFA Parliamentary Procedure event tests students' ability to effectively communicate ideas and to think critically to solve a problem during business a meeting. Components included a general knowledge exam of parliamentary law, a ten minute demonstration of parliamentary procedure, and oral questions. The 2nd place finish gives the team an opportunity to represent Virginia at the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Massachusetts this September.
