Holston High School | Government Class Goes to Court
Post date:
Tue, June 11, 2019
On May 14, 2019, Senior Government students from Holston High School learned first-hand about our state and federal judicial systems.
Students visited the Washington County Courthouse and observed court proceedings in General District Court and had a tour of Circuit Court during the morning. In the afternoon, students met and interacted with two federal judges, an attorney from the federal public defender's office, a probation officer, and a U.S. marshal during their visit to the U.S. District Court in Abingdon. Students walked through a trial simulation, learned about their role if ever selected to serve on a jury, and gained exposure to potential career opportunities.
