Hour of Code with WMS Eighth Graders

Three male students are working on computers in the library.During Computer Science Education Week, December 7-13, eighth grade students in Mrs. Ramseyer’s library class participated in The Hour of Code.  Students were given opportunities to explore basic coding activities and tutorials on a variety of free online sites.

Although at times things were frustrating, students were able to build upon their problem-solving skills and creativity. Most students worked with Blockly, which is used by Code.org to teach introductory programming in their Hour of Code program.  Students worked through several projects, and some of them ventured into more complicated projects at other online sites. Students completing an hour or more coding received a certificate for their participation.
