John S. Battle Floriculture Team placed 5th overall in the National Event

The week of October 25-29, John S. Battle Floriculture Team competed in the National Floriculture Contest. This event was held in conjunction with the 90th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
During the contest students test their knowledge and skills in the production and retailing of flowers, plants, and foliage. Participants complete a general knowledge exam on the floriculture industry, identify plant materials and equipment, demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills, employment and customer service skills, technical floral skills, and the ability to work as a team. Teams competed at the local and state levels to earn the privilege of representing their home state at the National Contest. Students show- cased the knowledge gained in the classroom for real life situations in the floral industry.
Team members are Morgan S., Sydney E., Adrianna N., and Makayla E.. Morgan placed 5th, high individually and received $700. Morgan, Sydney, and Adrianna received gold ranking with Makayla receiving silver. The team placed 5th in the nation earning 790 out of 800 points in the team activity
