A man dressed in a suit surrounded by students smiling. On August 17th, student leaders at John S. Battle learned valuable lessons from Washington County's Superintendent, Dr. Brian Ratliff, to kick off their "Leader Live" series.

These 24 students are enrolled in a new class called "Leadership Development" taught by business teacher, Karen Carrier.  Class goals are to grow students' capacity for leadership and utilize their full abilities to impact the school and community in positive ways.  Their motto is “to rise by lifting others.”  Students really enjoyed learning from Dr. Ratliff and are excited to welcome additional community leaders for these informative chats throughout the school year. They will also be organizing service projects, such as continuing the "Battle Buddies" program,  as well as initiating new programs, such as "Friend a Freshman" that will be implemented soon to aid in helping all freshmen have a smooth transition into high school.
