Reading Pays Off!

Second Grade students at High Point Elementary have been "Busy Bees" with reading this year! In fact, the grade level total is already close to 12,000,000 words!
Students have individual weekly goals that were set by the teacher as well as goals for the nine-week grading period. Second-graders were rewarded with a popcorn and movie, and will also be rewarded with a dessert celebration with the Principal. Students and teachers alike are also looking forward to "Storybook Character Day" on Halloween. The day will be dedicated to reading our favorite books and stories, as well as dressing up as a favorite book character. Students are seeing these weekly goals adding up as they climb higher and higher up the reading ladder toward becoming Million-Word Readers!
