Rhea Valley Elementary School | Therapy Dogs Visit Rhea Valley Elementary

Children watching a man and dogs.As part of Rhea Valley Elementary’s study of the novel “Fenway and Hattie,” students enjoyed a visit from Mr. Andy Overbay and his therapy dogs, Bo and Ty.

Mr. Overbay told students about the important work that therapy dogs do in hospitals and nursing homes, and he demonstrated some hand signals that his dogs have been trained to follow.  Bo and Ty showed their ability to obey commands such as sit, lay down, and speak.  The students then were given a chance to participate in the dogs’ ongoing training by petting and interacting with them.  Rhea Valley had a "dog-gone" good time learning about these service dogs and their important work.
