RVES Fifth Grade History Projects
Mon, March 13, 2017
Rhea Valley Elementary fifth grade students celebrated Black History Month in February with an autobiographical report. Students chose important African American figures throughout history and the present.
Selections ranged from Phillis Wheatley, who wrote poetry during the American Revolution, to Harriet Tubman, who ran the Underground Railroad during the Civil War, to Michael Jordan, basketball player, and Simone Biles, Olympic Gold Medalist. Students presented their papers in costume and took on the role of teaching us all about the contributions African Americans have made to our country. Special thank you to Ms. Akers for providing the information for this article.
